A world where with dreams alone, no doubt, can humans scale beyond measure. Skyscrapers could be spawned within a week from a small glimmer of desire in the world known as Hathor... at least, that is what it used to be until five years ago. The open gates that had once allowed access to the dimension where all had been probable has now fallen from its heights. Dreams are nothing more than motivation and keys to opportunities, but never again shall they hold the same power as they once had. The humans residing Hathor had already become accustomed to such... as if it had always been as such. Wake up! This was not the story that should have been.
On the edge of a sidewalk, a pale yellow vehicle clad in black checkered stripes creeps along the worn streets of the evening. Waving a hand out in hesitation, drenched in the pouring rain, a person takes a step onto the unknown terrain of the streets. The vehicle comes to a halt as a window from the front is lowered a couple of inches. A pair of eyes can be seen from the gap that had just been created. The figure latches onto the back door handle as it glides into the passenger seat of the car... a taxi. The engine revved as smoke fumed right on its tail. A final sound effect had caused the cab to steadily roll forward, away from the curb. No, please don't leave me! I don't want to be alone again...
The taxi had picked up momentum as it increased from a struggle to a crawl. Without gazing back, the driver had asked, "Do you have any idea 'where' you wish to go?" The question was simple, but the word "wish" had been emphasized in the driver's pronunciation... as if the place was of no matter. Staring out the hazed window, it appeared like the planet, itself, rather than the car, was moving. The cab driver tapped impatiently at the wheel at hand as his eyes darted to the overhead mirror. "Okay, then... do you at least have a name?" enthused the chauffeur. To this, the passenger had parted their lips, ready to answer...
To sign-up, just input the name for your name below; players are free to role-play, but please maintain your characters as humans. The method to the "main" game is rather simple; every round will be a competition between players where at the end of each, the one with the lowest amount of points or the lowest ranking will be "eliminated" from the game. Each round, will have a "practice round" that precedes it to allow players the time to become accustomed to the matches, as every single one will be different, in that, they will all be based off of varied videogame genres.
It will start with an introduction to the round, and then the host will send a PM to the players that will inform each of their situation and/or equipment. Although, anyone is free to post in the threads as to comment or ask questions in general, and alliances and lies are all up to those playing. Players will then have free-range of choice, as they must make a series of commands in that turn; a player can commit, at most, seven commands per turn, but are free to do less. Any set of commands that are invalid, include, actions that are out of one's ability or if-else statements that have been left incomplete. At the end of the twenty-four hour period, all actions of the players will be listed in a narrative, along with the end results. This process will continue until there is only one competitor left, who shall be considered the overall winner.
Now, here are the more challenging mechanics. One can choose not to involve themselves in such, but it will most likely result in their demise. All players will start with a set amount of money, which can be exchanged for daily needs or used as an item of trade. One can "purchase" within the practice round phases, including food and beverages. If one's character does not get their income of such, then their own character will gradually weaken, but this does not ensure death. To clarify upon a character "weakening," as a result from malnutrition, they will lose the maximum number of commands they can commence per turn. If one's amount of money runs out before the end of the competition, then that player will automatically "die."
In addition to the currency system, all players must PM the host a separate name after they sign-up, which will be considered as that character's "real name." When sending one's "real name," please title the PM, "Dreamscape-" followed by your character's "fake name" as these will also be used for commands and status updates. The importance of such is that if another player were to decipher one's real name, then the one who was revealed will be deducted a fair amount of money, and that currency will be transferred to the one who had stated it. A player can only steal from each character once, but multiple players can steal from one character. All will have infinite tries to guess another's name, but the one guessing is required to state both the "real" and "fake" name.
The stage has been set; now, place your pieces onto the board if you will. Take a chance at this game of survival where either, one shall be greeted with anything, or all shall be sent to naught. Free the memories that have been lost within another life, and put your faith into your own actions.
