Now, gathered at the bird cage for the second time that day, most of the participants were pondering over their fates. The rules of Dreamscape that had always been there, win to receive one's greatest desire, or lose to be stranded in the land where there would be no "tomorrow," was one belief that they all refused to accept. Aries was still absent from the prior announcement... Was it weird that no one had intrigued on their host's identity or were they still high-strung with fear that prevented them in doing so?
The bird cage, as was its temporary name, was still as blindingly white as ever. The contestants lounged in the time they had left; mostly thinking of what to do with the given break. There wasn't much to explore except for hauntingly dark exit, which no one had yet dared to advance to. Humans have a never-ending thirst for curiosity, but in the end, they will all regret it. Instincts and sporadic emotions are unnecessary to us. If I was able to, then I would have erased such an innate feature from all beings of Hathor, completely.
Near the windowsill, stood Nova with one palm to the pane, gazing into the oblivion that was set before him. Space was a mysterious obstacle... but what was it an obstacle to? What was the end goal that whoever ruled over this universe had to create such a breath-taking maze that stretched on for centuries? The poet regretted not having brought a set of writing supplies before vanishing from Hathor to this horrendous atmosphere. Well, it wasn't like anyone had known that they would be teleported off to who knows where. Despite his serene outlook that constantly dug through all the grime to find the more positive qualities of people, Nova had the same inspiration to have been a defense attorney. He recalled admiring them when he was younger as he would always inscribe the methods and tactics used by both sides during a documentation of a case. He had even nagged his parents for half a year, in order to purchase a volume of episodes from a crime-investigation television show.
Ever since he was eleven, in fact, he developed a fascination for those who spent their lives proving people innocent. He had even gone to the lengths of writing his own defense on almost every case he had seen on his given set of mystery shows; all of which, had been completed when he was fourteen. The factor that had tipped him off towards the world of poetry was that he felt too attached to the life of a defense attorney. As if that previously mentioned interest was destined to have been his... as of he were born for that role, but that was outrageous... right?
Humans were rather... erratic beings, and rejecting the possibility of his story being foretold, Nova took his second natural talent to the pen.
A tap is heard near the mouth of the bird cage. Their host had returned with hands shoved in pockets, strolling with little concern to the outcome of the event that awaited the players. Another figure dawning a mask was spotted behind Aries, but the second was consumed by the shadows of the entrance, as only their labcoat that dropped to their knees was noticed.
Aries hopped onto the stand with ease as he descended silently onto the pedestal. He cleared his throat, calling the attention of all others to where he stood. Even though most of the announcer's expression could not be seen behind the cover, most had recognized the tinge of regret that hung with each syllable, as he declared, "From now on, all items will be inflated in price. Meals will remain the same price, but water will now increase to five dollars, and potions to twenty. Our first round will begin soon. One difference you will find this time is that most, if not all, of the actions you had before will be replaced... because once in a while, we like seeing some entertainment." Aries ended with moving his fingers in an arch-like motion similar to composing.
Glancing back to the entrance, the other masked official had vanished; although the disappearance was not all that surprising, given the time of the whole speech. Mostly recovered from his previous emotional conflict, Aries sneered behind his mask as he saluted off to the contestants, and no more than a second later, all four on the ground level had been casted off in variant colors.
As they opened their eyelids to the land, they were hardly in shock to find themselves in the same situation they had begun with during the practice round. This... was the same as last time's first round. The last time I experienced this.. was also the day that we had aimed our knives at our friends and foes behind concealing eyes and sealed lips.
